Contemporary Transformation: Reviving a Colonial Home

Georgetown, DC

Our client was interested in creating a fresh, crisp design while maintaining a historic, Georgetown exterior. The resulting interior mirrored the family's vibrant personalities and social lifestyle. Working side by side with the builder, our firm detailed elements such as fireplace surrounds, selected finishes and plumbing collections for bathrooms, and reimagined hidden areas for further use, such as a wine room under the stairs. While the primary palette was white and bright, I designed specific entertaining areas such as the library and dining room to promote gathering and conversation. As the young kids were such an important part of our design, we infused playfulness into the kids areas, with color, pattern and family friendly fabrics.
